This time the conference is going to be virtual under the motto “Reinventing ELT practices to meet the needs of the new normal”. TESOL Colombia IV will include new innovative features to give you an enhanced experience such as an English Teaching Design Lab, professional development opportunities through micro-courses at our ELT Academy, the TESOL Colombia Awards and a more robust Technology Hub.

Call for papers
You are cordially invited to submit a presentation proposal for this year’s conference to be held virtually from Universidad de La Sabana campus in Chía, Colombia on 27–29 May 2021. This year’s conference focuses on areas of innovation, virtual education, remote teaching, and online assessment, including but not limited to:
- Transforming literacies and learning experiences.
- Innovation, methodology, and design.
- Reinventing professional development.
- Multimodal learning scenarios.

Proposal considerations
Proposals will be considered as such:
Presentations can either report on results from original empirical or analytical research, including reflections or critical commentary on topics in the field based on classroom-based experience and/or theoretical considerations.
- 30-minute live presentation (2 presenters max.).
TESOL Colombia will provide you with login access and support during your presentation. If your proposal is accepted, additional instructions regarding connection, virtual room, etc. will be delivered at a later time.
Proposal requirements
Proposals must include the title for the proposed presentation, the name(s) of all associated presenters, the name(s) of their institutions (independent scholars may enter “Independent Scholar”), brief (maximum 50-word) biographical statements for all associated presenters, and an email address for the corresponding presenter (institutional email addresses are preferred), and a 300-word (maximum) abstract.
Abstracts must be structured to mirror the structure of the proposed paper. Abstracts for papers reporting on empirical research must follow the IMRaD format (as must the presentation itself), i.e. they must clearly indicate the topic/problem studied, the method(s) used, the main results, and the principle significance(s) of these results.
Abstracts for papers reporting on analytical research must clearly present the main argument/thesis of the paper and principal conclusions. Do not include citations/references, unexpanded abbreviations, figures, or tables within or accompanying the abstract. Ensure that you adhere to these requirements.

Technology Hub
Call for papers
The Technology Hub has been an environment in which TESOL participants have had the opportunity to know and interact with the devices, tools and successful technological solutions implemented in the world of English teaching and learning. This year we have a special edition of call for papers for the Technology Hub. The nine best proposals will have a place to present virtually to the TESOL Colombia audience their best tech device or solution to improve language learning. 20-minute live presentation (2 presenters max.)

Proposal considerations
A presentation for the Technology Hub can either report a replicable experience of technology implementation in the ELT field or introduce a technological device or solution for English teaching purposes. The presentation is expected to include interactive moments in which the audience will be able to experience the technology addressed. Aspects such as: relevance (importance of the experience/device in the ELT field), innovation (friendliness, usefulness, and accessibility of the technology for the ELT), creativity (for the way the presentation will be held), and social impact (results and benefits for the ELT field) will be considered in your proposal.

Abstracts reporting a successful experience of technology usage must clearly indicate the experience, the main results, and the principal significance(s) of these results in the ELT classroom. Abstracts for papers reporting on a technological device or solution must clearly present the device/tool/solution, its usage in the ELT classroom and its benefits for English teaching. Do not include citations/references, unexpanded abbreviations, figures, or tables within or accompanying the abstract. Ensure that you adhere to these requirements.
